Info / Download

The RangeExtender consists of a ground station and a Wi.232 receiver module for the MikroKopter.
This can be used to establish a wireless connection between a Windows PC or a Android tablet to the MikroKopter.
(Range up to 1000mtr)

This allows you to carry out wireless parameterization of the MikroKopter, transmit / monitor waypoints, or display the telemetry during a flight. (e.g. with Windows-MikroKopter-Tool or Android-KopterTool )

The ground station can be connected via USB or Bluetooth to a computer/tablet. The Wi.232 receiver modul will be connected to the MikroKopter.

Your RangeExtender includes a 3,6V/800mAh NiMH battery. With this battery the RangeExtender can work for some hours.
If the battery is used up, a warning signal sounds and the battery must be charged.

To charge the battery, connect the RangeExtender via the USB cable with a PC or a 5V-power supply (like you use for a mobil phone).
During the charging process the red LED Charge lights up. When the battery is fully charged, this LED goes off.
The charging process can takes several hours to complete charging.

You can use the RangeExtender with a:

  • Windows Computer / Laptop / Tablet
  • Android Tablet / Smartphone

If you use a Windows computer you can use the MikroKopter-Tool.
With this program you can configure the MikroKopter, see the telemetry of your copter and plan also a waypoint flight.

If you use a Android tablet you can use the KopterTool.
With this APP you can plan also a waypoint flight and see the telemetry of your copter.

Connection at the MikroKopter

http://gallery3.mikrokopter.de/var/albums/intern/MK-Baugruppen/RangeExtender/RangeExtender-Kopter-Anschluss.jpg?m=1528714037

The RangeExtender includes the Wi.232 modul for your MikroKopter.
This Wi.232 receiver module will be connected via a 4 wire Molex cable with the Update - UART connector of your FlightCtrl V3.

Alternatively the Wi.232 receiver module can also be connected to the serial port of the FlightCtrl V3.
For this you have to solder a 10-pin post socket to the Wi.232 receiving module.
So you can use the module also on older hardware (such as FlightCtrl V2.x, NaviCtrl).

Connection via Bluetooth or USB

If the automatic driver installation by Windows fails, the FTDI driver can be downloaded and manually installed here:
      FTDI-driver : Download

For the connection to the MikroKopter the Windows program MikroKopter-Tool can be used.
Information about usage can be found here: MikroKopter-Tool

  • Bluetooth
    • "Power ON" the RangeExtender with the switch.
Activate Bluetooth on the used device and start the "bluetooth scan".
(see manual of the used device)

The Bluetooth-Pin for the bluetooth device is 0000.
After the RangeExtender is paired you can use it with the MikroKopter-Tool or the Android APP.
if the connection via Bluetooth is OK the blue LED Bluetooth on your RangeExtender is ON.

If the MikroKopter Android APP "KopterTool" is used to connect to the MikroKopter, the APP will require a "RE-ID".
This individual ID can be found on the back of the RangeExtender.
Information about the use of the APP can be found here: Android-KopterTool
